Over 30 remarkable years of hat-making Rosie has perfected her extensive repertoire of millinery skills and her subtle understanding of what makes a good hat.
Rosie’s philosophy of individuality is carried through in every detail. She shapes her hats using traditional wooden blocks from her vintage collection, works personally with traditional artisan weavers across the Pacific region to source authentic hat-making fibres and employs special artisan hand dying and distressing techniques to achieve unique colour effects.
Rosie offers a ready-to-wear range of men’s and women’s casual contemporary headwear, now available online at Hats by Rosie Boylan. Rosie also offers clients visiting her Newtown store a uniquely personal fitting and styling service and range of customisable features in her ready to wear styles.
Collaborating with feature film Oscar-winning costume designers, Rosie has created iconic bespoke headwear for principals and featured characters in many Australian productions including Three Thousand Years of Longing, Elvis, Alien Covenant, The Great Gatsby, Moulin Rouge, Australia, The Piano and Peter Pan. Major bespoke stage credits include The King and I, Phantom of the Opera and Love Never Dies; for television The Secret River, A Place to Call Home and Banished; and bespoke fashion collaborations with Australian designers including sass and bide, R M Williams, Camilla Franks, Macgraw and Bassike.
