ROSIE BOYLAN - MILLINER
A headwear specialist for fashion, television, stage and screen, Rosie undertakes diverse commercial commissions. Alongside this work, Rosie also designs and creates contemporary street and casual hats for men and women which she sells from her studio store.
Rosie has been creating hats for theatre and film for almost thirty years with credits to her name including the feature films, The Great Gatsby, Australia, Moulin Rouge and The Piano. These high profile costume collaborations and an extensive body of theatre work have consolidated her reputation as a leading milliner for large-scale industry productions. Rosie has also garnered respect for her couture millinery following collaborations with a number of leading Australian fashion houses, including recent commissions with Sass and Bide and R. M. Williams.
In 2009 Rosie was awarded the prestigious Churchill Fellowship to study headwear design in Japan, Italy, France, the United Kingdom and the USA.
Rosie retails hats to the public from her studio, with her shop open every Saturday and for appointments during the week. Located on Australia St in the heart of Newtown, stepping into Rosie's store is a glimpse into the world of the hat-maker's studio. With casual, ready-to-wear hats for men and women, as well as Rosie's styling and fitting assistance, this is a unique, customised shopping experience. Rosie also offers a service of bespoke commissions on request, creating one of a kind headwear pieces to order.
